HISTORY OF JAFFA

Jaffa, Hovering on top of a hill overseeing the Mediterranean Sea, is the oldest port in the holy land and one of the oldest ports in the Mediterranean.  Strategically located on the crossroads of the country, and due to its natural advantage, a hill above a bay and an extremely fertile soil, the city was the center of historical events for over 1000 years.

The Egyptian Pharaohs, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Crusaders, Mamluks and Ottomans, had all their eras of power over the city, with several destructions and constructions,  the city was left with an amazing diversified heritage which could be seen all around the city.
